The M249 is a so-called LMG - Light Machine Gun , which has a very high rate of fire and has been manufactured in various versions since 1984 and is used by many armies worldwide.
The S&T STAEG103 M249 Para AEG Airsoft replica of the LMG M249 in the short Para version , like the original, has a fully automatic electric shot drive and an extremely reliable V2 metal gearbox with quick spring change system and an output of 380 fps / 1.33 Joule .
The LMG is largely made of robust hi-tech polymer . Despite the focus on cost savings, S&T places great value on high-quality workmanship .

There is enough space under the barrel for a 9.6V Nunchuck NiMh or 7.4V LiPo battery (each max. 25 mm diameter). The fact that the handguard has to be removed is not a big problem, since it can be removed and reassembled with a quick ejection system without tools.
