The electrically operated Auto Assault - 12 (= AA-12) shotgun replica from Toyko Marui , also known as Sledge Hammer Shotgun , was developed in 1972 by Maxwell Atchisson as a 12 gauge shotgun. The original design served as the basis for many other models of firearms, including the USAS 12 combat shotgun. The original AA-12 has a fire rate of 300 rounds per minute.
The AA-12 replica manufactured by Tokyo Marui is the world's first replica of an electric shotgun. The TM AA-12 achieves a fire rate of a remarkable 1,800 BBs per minute (= 30 / sec.).
The TM AA-12 has a three-cylinder system with three hop-up chambers, each of which can be calibrated independently.
All internal parts such as the 3 cylinder mechabox including the engine were specially developed for the TM AA-12 . The FET unit (a protection system for switches and electronics) protects electronic circuits from overvoltage. In the event of an excessive discharge of the battery as well as an overcharge, the experienced user is informed via a red LED diode that something is wrong with the voltage.
The battery is stowed in the barrel of the shotgun. The TM AA-12 Shotgun can hold 7.4V Li-Po batteries with a capacity of up to 1,400 mAh.
The TM AA-12 Shotgun has 3 fire modes:
- Safe
- Semi Auto (there is an audible click between Safe and Fire when Semi Fire is selected)
- Full Auto - Fully automatic mode with a rate of fire (RoF) of up to 10 BBs per second per barrel, resulting in a total of 30 fps for all barrels
Danger:
The replica should not be operated with a Ni-Mh battery with less than 7.4 V. The FET system that protects the replica does not support Li-Po batteries with 11.1V or more. The set contains neither a battery nor a charger.
